techstar [ooc] ⚝ application

Name: May Chang
Series: Fullmetal Alchemist
Canon: OU
Age: 12-14 ; going to say fourteen due to being close to the end of the series
Timeline: After falling out of the ceiling from getting chased by Envy
World Information: --
History: History wikia! ~ though if you'd rather I write it out I can!

Personality:
From the moment that she appears (other than that small cameo), May is shown to be quite the determined person, as she accomplished crossing the desert that separated two countries in search of immortality. Once she's motivated, she's the type that will put her all into it. Whether it to be to help her Clan or simply find the 'man of her dreams'. It's also highly unlikely that she'll just get up and quit; sticking it out until the end. Or rather until she comes to some type of verdict, a example being when she gave up on Edward after learning how he actually was. This doesn't mean that she won't get distracted from her original intentions, still multitasking doesn't seem to offer much of a problem. She was able to continue her search for immortality, look for Edward, and help Scar without leaving one of them behind in the dust. You can say that she's able to 'keep her eye on multiple prizes'. Still, despite how important her goals are, she knows when to quit. Whether it be to help someone else or because it's a lost cause.

Speaking of helping others, May isn't the type of person who could leave someone who needs it. It isn't in her to turn away from helping someone. Just as in the case of Xiao Mei. When she found the abandoned panda in desperate need of care and took her in; even after Xiao Mei bit her. Though this was because she felt a connection with the abandoned panda. May is also the type of person that you can count on for repaying a dept. Helping repair a cave-in or healing a wound in payment of someone helping her by giving her food after she fainted. Also, she may not go away until she does this. Sitting there with Yoki until Scar came back in order to repay him in some way. It's also shown that May prefers not to stay in-dept to someone for too long, leaving a doctor's home after one night of him treating her. Also so that she won't cause any more trouble with him by fighting with another patient.

This helps prove that May really is a nice girl, despite her moments of anger. She'd rather not get into a unnecessary fight unless she has a reason. That reason being that you 'hurt' her in some way, such as playing with her heart. Even if you don't mean too. She won't actually fight you though, more send out a attack in a 'fit of anger/sadness'. Another reason that she'd fight with you is if you can be classified as her enemy. Nonetheless, May is a sweet, kind girl to many people that she meets. Not only that, but she also has a keen ability to be able to see the goodness and kindness in others. Managing to befriend and find companionship in a gruff, dark man who has killed others before. Claiming him to be a nice man when told that he's dangerous. She isn't exactly someone who'll judge someone by how they look. Nor does May seem to be phased when someone is rude to her, still sticking around after being Scar told to 'go away' after just meeting her.

Don't get her wrong, she does have her flaws. One of them being that she can slightly over-exaggerate who someone is when being told about them, than get upset about it later. Basically, it's best to meet her yourself and not have someone tell her about you.

In other terms, May has a slightly over-active imagination. A great example of this would be that she formed a prince-like version of Ed in her mind after being told that he helped several people along with a few other traits. Another example being that she formed a monster version of Al after realizing that Xiao Mei ended up with him, claiming him to be a kidnapper. (There's also a odd, short figure with a stick of blonde hair that can be inferred as Ed.) Based on what she hears or sees, her vision of you can either be positive or negative. Of course, this is before she actually meets you. Once she does, all of this can be cleared up. It isn't just people that she over-exaggerates though, also doing so with the possible scenarios that could take place with her 'prince.' Another example would be when she begins to cry after finding Winry in Al's armor, acting as if he was cheating on her. (Though they were never dating.) You can say that she has slight drama queen qualities, often over-dramatizing normal scenarios or explanations.

Unless her enemy, May is a friendly, formal girl. The formality most likely coming from that she's both one of the many children of the Emperor of Xing along with the Chief of her Clan's daughter. Addressing her name with a slightly bow when meeting someone under good, normal-like circumstances. Even in face of an enemy she can take the time to tell who she is. Also referring to people's name with politeness. Not only that, but she is also founded to be quite trustworthy. Gaining Scar's trust after only knowing him for a short amount of time to go find his brother's book with a 'prisoner'. This can also be taken that she's loyal, heading out to find her companion in order to make sure that he's alright.

May, does however, have plenty of weaknesses. Such as child-like nativity, getting tricked by Envy to go back to Central after meeting people that have helped her before. This can also be taken as that she can easily be manipulated by others with the right motivation. And while she's a good fighter, May is still only human. Not being have to take head-on blows without suffering much damage, to the point where it could knock her out. Though she was also fighting many monsters beforehand. Still, May is a brave person. Taking on people much stronger than her with confident in order to achieve her goals.

In conclusion, May is a nice, friendly character. Though she may sometimes act like a child, she also has her moments of maturity. Good at figuring things out with slight jogging of words and being quite smart in general. Knowing when to abandon a fight or to stay and fight, also taking a opportunity to get a step ahead of a enemy. Though this doesn't mean that she's not a fair fighter, rather that she's not above a sneak attack or eavesdropping. She'd also rather help than harm. May also shows herself to be child-like in the sense that she doesn't find how she's feeling. Rather, she's very open about it and a bit outspoken in general. Nor does she try to ease her way around things, being a bit more on the blunt side. Still, unless you give her a reason not to be; you can expect her to be friendly and make a friend out of her. After all, you can have fun trying to scare her off with frowns and harsh words. For the most part, they go over her head.

Abilities/Additional Notes: May is about to use an 'art' called alkahestry, which is the Xingese form of alchemy back in her world. She's also capable of basic martial arts and is a slightly tossing expert when it comes to kunais. She rarely misses her target. May also has a small panda companion of the name of Xiao Mei with her, without the panda she wouldn't be who she is. Which is the precise reason why she's coming with May.

Third-Person Sample: It'd already been a week, a long week at that. Laying on her bed, May stared up at the ceiling. She hated this place, it was boring. She'd been trapped inside a building with limited outside area to explore. After such a long journey through Amestris, she could see how this could be enjoyable for some. In fact, if she'd came here after getting back to Xing with immortality, this wouldn't be so bad. Well, minus the whole haunted bit.

Sitting up, May glanced around her room. She really, really wanted to go home to Xing. It'd already been so long since she'd been there and this was just getting in her way. She had immortality to get! Letting out a small frustrated groan, she hopped off her bed. There had to be something here that she could do. Glancing over at the small cat-panda that was busy sleeping, she frowned. It'd be alright to leave Xiao-Mei here for a little bit, the panda did like her sleep. Exiting the room, she heard the door slam behind her. Great, great, great, great. She didn't even want to bother trying to open it.

May frowned as she began to walk down the hallway, keeping her eyes on the ground. Why couldn't this happen to... Prince Yao's bodyguard or something, or even Prince Yao himself. That would be funny, plus it meant that those two couldn't get in her way. It wasn't like anything bad had to happen to them while they were here.

"Okay, I just have to make the best of this!" She voiced out loud, attempting to derail her last train of thought. She wasn't the only one stuck here after all. "I've never been in a building like this before, it's really different." She continued to herself, taking her eyes off the floor to look at the walls and the ceiling. "I've faced scarier than this too!" One example would be that short shrimp called Edward, she smirked silently to herself. Yup, she was already feeling better about this place again. For the meantime anyways, her feeling towards this place had gone up and down for awhile.

First-Person Sample Post: Um, is this thing working. [She honestly can't tell, at all.] It's not working is it..? [Stupid device, show her that you're working. She stares at the screen a bit longer.]

Maybe I should go ask someone if they know how to use this. I didn't even know that things like this existed, it's really tiny. I thought phones had to be plugged into a wall too. [Not that the Chang Clan even had any phones.] The lady at the counter wasn't exactly helpful though.. I wish that Scar-sama or Marcoh-sama were here, they'd know what to do. Or at least if this thing was on. [She stares it again before squinting her eyes to notice that it has been on.] Oh! I did turn it on, great! Now I just have to go find my room. [Now that she knows how to turn it on, maybe she'll actually use it to communicate with others. She'd rather talk face to face though.]
